How to Set Up IPTV on a Samsung Smart TV

Samsung Smart TVs run Samsung’s own Tizen system, so you install a player from the built-in app store and sign in with your Xtream Codes details. It usually takes about five minutes — the one thing to check first is whether the app is available for your particular TV.

App availability depends on your TV

Samsung updates its TV software and app store differently for each model year and region, so an app that is listed on a recent TV may be missing on an older one, or in another country. Before anything else, open the Apps screen and search for IPTV Smarters. If it is there, you are almost finished.

If it is not listed, do not spend hours hunting for a workaround. The cleanest fix is a small streaming device plugged into the TV — a Fire TV Stick running Fire OS, an Android TV box, or an Apple TV. Any of them is a one-time cost, and all of them are far more capable than an older smart TV’s app store. See the matching guide on this page.

How Smart IPTV works — and how it differs

Smart IPTV is a long-standing Samsung and LG app, and it works differently from Smarters. Instead of typing a username and password on the TV, you note the TV’s MAC address shown inside the app, then upload your M3U playlist link to Smart IPTV’s own website against that MAC address. After a free trial period, Smart IPTV asks for a one-time activation fee, which is paid to Smart IPTV, not to us. It is a reasonable backup, but Smarters is easier when it is available.

Setup, step by step

About five minutes.

  1. Open the Smart Hub app store. Press the Home button on your remote, then open the Apps section (Smart Hub).
  2. Search for a player app. Search for IPTV Smarters and install the genuine app; several similar-looking apps use the name, so check the developer using our IPTV Smarters guide. If it is not available in your region’s store, Smart IPTV (SIPTV) is a common Samsung-supported alternative.
  3. Open the app and log in. Launch the app, select Login with Xtream Codes API, then enter the username, password, and server URL from your My Account page.
  4. Let your channels load. Your channels load automatically once you are logged in. The first load can take a minute.
  5. If you use Smart IPTV instead. Open the app and note the MAC address it shows, then add your M3U link against that MAC address on Smart IPTV’s website and restart the app.

Samsung TV tips

What to check when the app misbehaves.

Check the connection
In Settings → General → Network, run the network status check. A weak signal is the most common cause of buffering.
Use Ethernet
Many Samsung TVs have an Ethernet port. A cable is steadier than the TV’s built-in Wi-Fi.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to try
IPTV Smarters is not in the store Availability varies by TV model and region. Try Smart IPTV, or plug in a Fire TV, Android TV box, or Apple TV. Contact support if you are unsure.
Login fails Compare the username, password, and server URL with My Account character by character, and confirm your trial or order is approved.
The app freezes or closes Update the TV software, then unplug the TV for 30 seconds. If it continues, delete and reinstall the app.
Buffering Use Ethernet where possible and follow the buffering guide.
Smart IPTV shows no channels Check that you uploaded your M3U link against the exact MAC address shown in the app, then restart it.

Frequently asked questions

Does my Samsung TV support IPTV apps?

Most recent Samsung Smart TVs do. Open the Apps screen and search for IPTV Smarters. If it is not listed, availability depends on your model year and region.

What if the app is not available?

Plug a streaming device into the TV. A Fire TV Stick running Fire OS, an Android TV box, or an Apple TV is the most reliable fix.

How is Smart IPTV different?

You upload your M3U link to Smart IPTV’s website against your TV’s MAC address instead of typing a login on the TV. After a free trial it needs a one-time activation fee paid to Smart IPTV.

Do I need to pay for IPTV Smarters?

It can be installed for free; check the store listing for any optional extras.

Can I use the same login on other devices?

Yes, up to your plan’s simultaneous-stream limit.
